The whole building

Think of the Home as Interacting Parts

A change can affect more than one part of a building.

Understand the distinction

Walls, openings, heating, cooling and ventilation work within one building context. An isolated improvement claim may omit effects elsewhere. A whole-home approach asks how proposed changes interact and what evidence supports the recommendation.

Put it in your home notes

Create a simple list of known building features and systems, leaving uncertain details unconfirmed. Use it to discuss priorities with a suitable assessor. The list organises information; it is not a design specification or permission to alter ventilation, wiring, gas appliances or structural elements.
